HC Deb 11 June 1998 vol 313 cc657-8W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what powers the Scottish Parliament will have to(a) amend and (b) reject the Government's proposals for the Holyrood Parliament Building; and if he will make a statement. [45329]

Mr. McLeish

It is intended that responsibility for the Parliament Building at Holyrood will transfer to the Parliament's Corporate Body at an appropriate point after it is established following the elections in May 1999. The completion of the project will then be a matter for the Parliament.

Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the cost of each of the options on the shortlist for the Holyrood Parliament Building. [45330]

Mr. McLeish

The intention is that whichever team of designers is chosen will produce a building which can be constructed within the building cost estimate of around £50 million announced previously.
