§ Mr. HainI refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 17 December 1997,Official Report, column, 204–05, in response to his question on primary school class sizes. Figures for January 1996 are the earliest available for the current local education authorities. Results from the January 1998 Schools' Census are not yet available.
There are no middle schools in Wales and no information is collected centrally about class sizes in secondary schools.
