HC Deb 03 June 1998 vol 313 c211W
Mr. Jim Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what progress his Department has made in implementing its long-term strategy for the reduction of fossil fuel emissions in terms of(a) encouraging greater energy efficiency, (b) encouraging the use of renewable energy and (c) introducing an integrated transport policy. We are aiming to consult this summer on the policy options for delivering our climate change targets. This will largely focus on delivering our legally binding commitment from Kyoto, but will also consider how we might move towards our separate 20 per cent. domestic aim. The consultation paper will build on the outcomes of other reviews, including those on Integrated Transport Policy, Energy Policy, and Utility Regulation. We will then develop a balanced climate change programme under which all sectors of the economy will play their part.
