HC Deb 01 June 1998 vol 313 c49W
Mrs. Roe

To ask the hon. Member for Roxburgh and Berwickshire, representing the House of Commons Commission, if any legal actions are in progress against the Corporate Officer of the House arising out of the construction of Portcullis House; and if he will make a statement. [43883]

Mr. Kirkwood

A legal action is currently in progress, involving a claim for damages by Harmon CFEM Facades (UK) Ltd. (In Liquidation) against the Corporate Officer of the House of Commons. The plaintiff seeks damages arising from the procurement procedures adopted by the Corporate Officer in relation to the fenestration package in respect of the new parliamentary building (Portcullis House). The plaintiff tendered for the package but it was awarded elsewhere. The Corporate Officer is defending the proceedings.

The case is being heard in the High Court of Justice before an Official Referee His Honour Judge Lloyd QC.
