HC Deb 01 June 1998 vol 313 cc76-7W
Mr. Martlew

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many people have suffered food poisoning in each of the last 10 years where the source of infection has been green top milk. [43187]

Mr. Rooker

The majority of food poisoning cases are sporadic and the vehicle of infection is not known. Cases may also occur as part of outbreaks and for some of these the vehicle of infection may be established. The latest information on the number of people infected in general outbreaks of infectious intestinal disease in England and Wales associated with all unpasteurised milk will be made available in a detailed table to be placed in the House of Commons Library shortly. However, information is not available specifically on sporadic cases associated with green top or unpasteurised cows' drinking milk.
