§ Lord Clinton-DavisThe Government strongly support the creation of a free trade area between the EU and South Africa. As Presidency we have pressed for this to have comprehensive product coverage in line with WTO rules. The current negotiations aim to achieve free trade over a period of 10 years in which the EU will in general dismantle its tariffs at a more rapid pace than South Africa.
