HC Deb 01 June 1998 vol 313 c17W
Mr. Brake

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on the role of recycled domestic waste water from baths and sinks in reducing water consumption. [43549]

Angela Eagle

A number of commercial systems are available which allow the re-use of rainwater and waste water from baths and sinks for WC flushing and external use. The Government continue to monitor the development of such systems and customer acceptability, but are supportive of the more widespread use of recycled water where it poses no threat to public health.
