To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what resources his Department has given to the Advisory Group on Personal, Social and Health Education in Schools. [52742]

[holding answers 28 July 1998]: The Department has provided the National Advisory Group on Personal, Social and Health Education in Schools with accommodation and administrative support for their meetings. The members of the Advisory Group and those of its Expert Panel of Advisers have been reimbursed for the travel and other expenses they have incurred in attending meetings.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on the work of the Advisory Group on Personal, Social and Health Education in Schools since its inception. [52743]

[holding answers 28 July 1998]: The National Advisory Group on Personal, Social and Health Education in Schools has met four times since it was established in May. It will provide initial advice in September on a national framework for Personal, Social and Health Education in schools. The curriculum aspects of this advice will be considered by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in the context of the review of the National Curriculum.
