Mr. Moore

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many(a) nurses are and (b) management and administrative staff were employed by the NHS (i) on 1 May 1997 and (ii) at the latest available date. [53221]

[holding answer 29 July 1998]: An annual census of staff in post is conducted in September. Data from September 1998 census will not be available until end 1998.
