HC Deb 31 July 1998 vol 317 c682W
Mr. Bercow

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to the section "Jobs" in the document, "UK Presidency of the EU Half Way Mark", if he will make a statement on the purpose of national employment plans; how many jobs they will create; and if such plans existed prior to the United Kingdom presidency. [53783]

Ms Quin

National employment action plans describe the measures taken by each Member State to meet the collectively agreed Employment Guidelines. It is the measures in these action plans which should encourage job creation. No national employment action plans were submitted by Member States and subject to peer review before the UK Presidency.
