HC Deb 31 July 1998 vol 317 cc814-5W
Mr. Love

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list the(a) jobs created and (b) jobs secured by the (i) East London and (ii) Lea Valley Objective 2 Area in each year since its creation, broken down into (1) manufacturing, (2) service and (3) distribution sectors; and if he will make a statement. [53254]

Mr. Mudie

Since its introduction in 1994 the East London and Lea Valley Objective 2 programme has received support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF). Over this period 32,637 jobs have been created or retained (tables 1 and 2).

We do not hold information on the number of jobs created broken down by sector and we can only provide calendar year information for ESF because this is based on annual approvals. We do not hold information in this way for ERDF.
