HC Deb 31 July 1998 vol 317 cc802-3W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, pursuant to his answer of 27 March 1998,Official Report, column 343, on departmental transport arrangements, what further changes he has made. [54006]

Mr. Mudie

The Department is working towards the target announced in the White Paper 'A New Deal for Transport', that all headquarters buildings and main buildings occupied by Executive Agencies and Government Offices for the Regions should have green transport plans by March 1999 and all other key buildings by March 2000.

The DfEE expect to have a green transport plan in place for its main buildings by late autumn 1998.

The DfEE is currently investigating alternative fuels for use in its official vehicles. A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) car has been ordered for use by the Secretary of State.

All DfEE main sites took part in the National Cycle Week as part of the programme to raise staff awareness.
