A consultation exercise will explore public views on the wider, including ethical, issues raised by recent developments in the biosciences. The exercise will be managed by the Office of Science and Technology, drawing on expertise from other Government Departments and interested parties. A small advisory group of practitioners in the fields of consultation and science communication has been established to advise on appropriate techniques and the development of a detailed workplan. I expect that the exercise will start in the autumn.
