To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what percentage of life science graduates gain employment related to their field of study [53223]

Life science courses are included in the `biological sciences' category in the statistics collected by the Higher Education Statistics Agency but cannot be identified separately. The latest available information is for students who qualified in 1997 and relates to first destinations as reported by 31 December 1997. The table gives a complete list of occupants entered and other destinations of first degree graduates in biological sciences.
