To ask the Secretary of State for International Development how much her Department spent on IT, itemising(a) personal computers, (b) mainframe, (c) mini-computers and (d) file servers in the last year for which figures are available. [52891]

Mr. Foulkes

The amounts spent by DFID on IT during 1997–98 were as follows:

  • IT: £2,056,598
  • including, inter alia:
  1. (a) Personal computers: £126,421
  2. (b) Main-frame: £0
  3. (c) Mini-computers: £802,879
  4. (d) File servers: £93,136.
