HC Deb 30 July 1998 vol 317 cc463-4W
10. Mr. Ian Bruce

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his latest forecast of the trends in farm incomes; and what assessment he has made of the impact of the comprehensive spending review on them. [51697]

22. Mr. Evans

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received on the level of farm incomes in 1998–99. [51709]

Mr. Rooker

Farm income has been a matter of concern for everyone in the industry. It has therefore been raised in numerous meetings and in correspondence.

Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received on farm incomes over the last 12 months. [51690]

Mr. Nick Brown

The issue of farm incomes is frequently raised. The economic circumstances of farm businesses are monitored regularly and published by the Department. Future trends are difficult to predict, but it is likely that incomes will be depressed in 1998. They are unlikely to be affected by the Comprehensive Spending Review.
