HC Deb 30 July 1998 vol 317 cc489-90W
Mr. Stevenson

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on the review of SSA and area cost adjustment for education under review; and when he proposes to implement changes arising from the review. [53239]

Ms Estelle Morris

We are in the middle of a review of the SSA formula, including the area cost adjustment. We will not take final decisions on the SSA methodology for 1999–2000 until the autumn, after we have considered the views of local government as a whole.

Mr. Stevenson

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list the education standard spending assessment for those local authorities which achieved unitary status in(a) 1996 and (b) 1997. [53253]

The table sets out the education SSA for 1998–99 for those local authorities which achieved unitary status in(a) 1996 and (b)
