§ Mr. Ron DaviesBrewers have won six planning appeals in Wales since April 1996.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council lost an appeal by Bass Taverns Ltd. (trading as Harvesters Restaurants) on 15 January 1997 for the display of an internally lit double-sided freestanding pole sign and the Schooner Inn, Penarth.
The former Rhymney Valley District Council (now Caerphilly County Borough Council) lost an appeal by Bass Taverns Ltd. for a petrol filling station and A3 use (food and drink) at Hengoed, Mid Glamorgan on 12 February 1997. The same Council lost an appeal by Messrs. Whitbread Pub Partnerships against its refusal to grant listed building consent for the demolition of a public house at Pontlottyn on 4 March 1997.
The City and County of Swansea Council lost appeals on 16 April 1997 against an enforcement notice and refusal of planning permission by Bass Taverns Ltd. who were allowed to continue using premises at Bryn-y-Mor Road, Swansea as a wine bar/restaurant with ancillary kitchen, staff and office facilities. The same Council lost an appeal on 19 March 1998 by Hobgoblinns Ltd. for a change of use of premises to public house at Oxford Street, Swansea.
