HC Deb 30 July 1998 vol 317 cc458-9W
Mr. Hoyle

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what savings he estimates will accrue from the creation of(a) the Defence Transport and Movements Agency and (b) the Defence Storage and Distribution Agency. [53805]

Mr. Spellar

We estimate that the creation of the Defence Transport and Movements Agency will save £5.014 million over a ten-year period. The creation of the Defence Storage and Distribution Agency (Non-Explosive) will result in estimated savings of £62.1 million over the same period, with further estimated savings of £4.1 million as a result of the incorporation of storage and distribution activity for all explosive items into a division of the Naval Bases and Supply Agency.
