HC Deb 29 July 1998 vol 317 cc249-51W
Mr. Boswell

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what arrangements are in place to harmonise legal requirements between New Deal trainees and those being trained with TEC or private sector funding separately identifying those relating to health and safety measures. [52342]

Mr. Andrew Smith

[holding answer 27 July 1998]: The contracts which the Employment Service has entered into with all organisations delivering New Deal set out the obligations of New Deal providers, including their statutory obligations. The contract places a duty of care on the provider requiring that Health and Safety requirements are met. Fulfilment of these responsibilities will be evaluated by ES together with other aspects of contract compliance; with these arrangements in place there is not a current need to harmonise regulation with that operated by TECs and other training providers.

Mr. Brady
