Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many(a) men and (b) women have been sentenced to imprisonment in England and Wales in each of the last five years for offences relating to (i) physical abuse of children, (ii) sexual abuse towards children, (iii) manslaughter of a child and (iv) murder of a child under the age of five years. Information taken from the Home Office Court Proceedings Database is given in Table A. It should be noted that it is not possible to identify all violent (including sexual) offences where the victim is aged 16 years or under.

Table B provides information taken from the Homicide Index.
