To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what action his Department is taking to increase public awareness of the new electoral systems which will be used in(a) European Parliament elections and (b) elections for the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly; [52824]

(2) what budget he has allocated for informing the public of new voting systems to be used for (a) the European Parliament elections and (b) the elections to the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly; [52828]

(3) how much his Department will be spending in informing and educating the public on the new electoral system to be used for the European elections. [53683]

No budget has been allocated for informing the public of the new electoral system for European Parliamentary elections.

The Government are supporting the efforts of the Institute of Citizenship and the London office of the European Parliament and others to publicise the new electoral system.

Publicity arrangements for elections to the Scottish Parliament and National Assembly for Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales respectively.
