§ Ms Glenda JacksonThe Department has not yet commissioned research on the travel effects of smaller new settlements. The Department needs first to investigate the factors determining location decisions and how these in turn affect travel decisions in order to determine the travel generating characteristics of different patterns, types and scale of development. We hope to commission research in the next year.
