To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to his answer of 6 July 1998,Official Report, column 415, if he will list the criteria used to measure the performance of British livestock. [53180]

The criteria used to classify carcases of livestock are set out in Council Regulation 3220/84 (as amended) for pigs; Council Regulation 2137/92 (as amended) for sheep; and Council Regulation 1208/81 (as amended) and Commission Regulation 2930/81 (as amended) for cattle.
