§ Mr. Ron DaviesDetails of landfill sites which are licensed or registered as exempt from licensing are available in public registers held by the Environment Agency at its principal Area Offices. The Agency monitors these sites on a regular basis and if pollution is detected, they will take appropriate action.
Full information is not available on landfill sites that closed prior to the introduction of licensing. However, when the new contaminated land regime is implemented in Wales, this will provide for the identification of such sites, and for their remediation where necessary.
