§ Mr. George HowarthThe benefits and disadvantages of various national identity card schemes were discussed in the 1995 Green Paper "Identity Cards: A consultation document" (CM 2879) and the 1996 Home Affairs Committee Fourth Report on Identity Cards (HC 172). We are considering the options, but have no current plans for such a scheme, either generally or for particular age groups.
