§ Mr. Banks[holding answer 20 July 1998]: My Department does not issue guidelines on the number of sports schools should offer. The national curriculum for PE is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Employment.
The English Sports Council's National Junior Sport Programme includes the TOP series of initiatives, developed and delivered with the Youth Sports Trust, which provide opportunities for children to become involved in sport and realise their full potential.
