HC Deb 28 July 1998 vol 317 cc165-6W
13. Miss Begg

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proportion of NHS staff have had disability awareness training. [50988]

Mr. Boateng

Information about the implications of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 was issued to the National Health Service in 1996. Government advice to service providers includes the provision of disability awareness training, and we expect more NHS providers to take advantage of this as they review their policies, practices and procedures in the light of the Act's developing requirements. Such training will be arranged locally.
