§ Mrs. Liddell[holding answer 27 July 1998]: In line with Government policy, the Treasury has set a target to have Green Transport Plans in place by March 1999. We are currently preparing the first draft of our Green Transport Plan and within this we are taking the opportunity to review our car parking policy.
§ Mr. Edward DaveyTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the current energy consumption of his Department; what targets have been set to reduce this 215W level; and what plans there are for including energy efficiency performance figures in his Department's annual report. [52408]
§ Mrs. Liddell[holding answer 27 July 1998]: The Treasury's energy consumption figures up to and including 1996–97 were incorporated in the Government estate energy efficiency performance tables which were announced by the Under-Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, my hon. Friend for Wallasey (Angela Eagle) to my hon. Friend the Member for Sunderland, North (Mr. Etherington) on 1 April 1998, Official Report, columns 529–30. Energy performance figures for 1997–98 are not yet available.
The Department supports the Government's target to achieve a 20 per cent. improvement over 1990 levels by 31 March 2000.
The Department will consider including energy performance figures in its annual report in the light of core requirements.

§ Mrs. Liddell[holding answer 27 July 1998]: 11 per cent. of the Treasury's waste was recycled during 1997–98. We are currently revising and updating the Department's Domestic Environment Policy and are considering what targets we can realistically set to increase this percentage of waste we recycle.
