To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many people are currently paying(a) schedule C and (b) schedule D tax. [51653]

Schedule C was abolished for income tax purposes from 6 April 1996. The tax charge was transferred to Schedule D from that date.
It is estimated that about 21 million individual taxpayers have income taxable under Schedule D or Schedule A.
