§ Ms Estelle MorrisThe dangers of smoking form a vital part of education about drugs. We have made increased support of £7 million available to LEAs this financial year, through the Standards Fund programme, to assist primary and secondary schools and the youth service to deliver effective education about drugs. This builds on the £6 million of support which has been made available each year since 1995–96 through the Grants for Education Support and Training (GEST) programme to fund LEA's drug education initiatives, including teacher training and innovative projects.
