Mr. Geoffrey Robinson

The Investing In Britain Fund will—within the Government's tough fiscal rules—double net public investment over the lifetime of this Parliament, providing for the renewal, reform and modernisation of the public infrastructure.

34. Mrs. Ellman

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received on the Comprehensive Spending Review and its impact on levels of public infrastructure investment. [50521]

Mr. Darling

The Government consulted widely during the course of the Review. The outcome of the review has underlined the Government's commitment to renew, reform and modernise the country's infrastructure through the Investing in Britain Fund which will—within the fiscal rules—double net public investment by the end of the Parliament.
