§ Ms Glenda JacksonThe Department has received a number of representations from one number plate manufacturer expressing concern about the proposed spacing of characters in the new vehicle registration format. As explained in the answer I have to the hon. Member for Bournemouth, East (Mr. Atkinson) on 7 July 1998,Official Report, column 470, the Department will be considering these detailed aspects as part of its further research into the memorability of the new format.
