§ Dawn Primarolo[holding answer 17 July 1998]: The nature of the duty paid regime which will operate following the abolition of intra-EU duty-free sales is under discussion at official level in the EU Excise Committee. Customs and Excise are consulting with UK trade interests to help inform the UK position. Once discussions at Community level are finalised Customs will work with the UK trade to address the necessary practical arrangements for implementation.
