HC Deb 20 July 1998 vol 316 cc377-8W
Mr. Burstow

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if the boundary review in London will be conducted on the basis of universal three member wards in order to facilitate elections by thirds. [51470]

Mr. Raynsford

Our consultation paper "Modernising Local Government: local democracy and community leadership" set out options for more frequent local elections, and considered the possible implications for warding arrangements. We are considering the responses to that consultation, and will put forward firm proposals in a local government White Paper this Summer.
