§ Dr. Howells[holding answer 30 June 1998]: In line with the practice of successive Administrations, my department routinely consults the public, interested parties and client groups by way of consultation papers, White Papers and more recently using the Cabinet Office 227W People's Panel, on a wide range of policies and proposed legislation. I have therefore confined my reply to major exercises:
- Excellence in Schools White Paper consultation (July-October 1997)
- Excellence for All Children Green Paper consultation on Special Educational Needs (October 1997-January 1998)
- The Learning Age Green Paper consultation (March-July 1998: results to be published in Autumn 1998).
It is our normal practice to make the results of such research available to the public, including placing copies in the Library.
