To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what key targets have been set for the Chief Executive of the Naval Aircraft Repair Organisation Defence Agency for 1998–99. [50370]

In respect of financial year 1998–99 (prior to the formation of the Defence Aviation Repair Agency) the Director General Aircraft (Navy), acting as Owner of the Agency on behalf of my hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence under the terms of the Agency's framework document, has set the following key targetsQuantity Target—to achieve 98 per cent. of scheduled quantity of MoD sales orders in year. Customer Quality Satisfaction Target—to achieve no more than 56 customer complaints. Timeliness Target—to achieve 95 per cent. of the delivery dates agreed with the MoD customer. Cost Target—to achieve a full operating cost of £117.5M by 1 April 1999, assuming constant output. (Equivalent to a 9.5 per cent. reduction in real terms from the 1995–96 baseline). Volume Target—to utilise 100 per cent. of the available capacity by ensuring existing and, when required, additional customers furnish the programmes work against which resources have been allocated.
