§ Angela EagleMy Department has received numerous representations regarding Thames Water's metering policy. The cost of meter installation is one of the issues considered in our review of water charging in England and Wales. We recognise that, for some customers, meters can be an attractive option and in our consultation paper 'Water Charging in England and Wales—A New Approach' we propose that in future domestic customers should have the choice of a meter, free of charge, if it suits their needs.
