§ Angela EagleDuring the period 1 April 1997 to 31 March 1998, my Department and its Agencies received 672,980 pieces of correspondence from members of the public. 96 per cent. of these were responded to within the Department's target of 15 working days. A variety of methods for monitoring the response times to correspondence are used within the Department according to individual needs.
