§ Mr. DarlingTotal Managed Expenditure (TME) is the sum of public sector current expenditure and public sector net investment. Series for both of these in cash terms from 1997–98 to 2003–04 can be found in table 4.4 of the Economic and Fiscal Strategy Report 1998 (EFSR). They can be converted into real terms using the working assumptions for the GDP deflator in table 4.1 of the EFSR.
A forecast of General Government Expenditure (GGE) in 1998–99 is given as a memo item in table 4A.1 of the EFSR. Projections of GGE beyond that date depend on the outcome of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
