§ Mr. HainAccording to provisional estimates from the Annual Employment Survey, there were 36,800 employees in the automotive industry in Wales in September 1996; of which 5,200 were in manufacturing and 21,600 in sales and maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (1992 Standard Industrial Classification, Divisions 34 and 50 respectively).
