§ Dr. ReidThe RAF has five station nuclear accident response teams (formerly called Special Safety Teams) that would provide immediate response forces in the event of a nuclear weapon accident. A similar capability is provided as an integral part of the escort for a nuclear weapon road convoy, and immediate response capabilities are also maintained by the Clyde Naval Base and the Atomic Weapons Establishment.
