§ Mr. Andrew SmithThe Gateway will help young people to finds jobs or to take up New Deal option places. Individual young people's circumstances and needs will differ considerably. At present, our broad planning assumption is that the Gateway will meet these varying needs within an average expenditure of £260 per young person. As this includes those who leave the Gateway early for unsubsidised jobs, significantly more will be available for those who need the greatest help, the amount in each case related to the young person's needs.
