To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 22 December,Official Report, columns 548–50, on immigration cases, how many of the applications for leave to apply for judicial review made in 1996 and 1997, but recorded as having lapsed, were (a) refused on the papers and not renewed, (b) granted leave but no notice of motion was subsequently lodged and (c) withdrawn or otherwise not proceeded with.
