Friend the Secretary of State for Defence has had no discussions with Ministers in the Department of Trade and Industry with regard to the future of Her Majesty's Nautical Almanac Office. I understand, however, that officials of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council are exploring options for the continuation of the work of the Nautical Almanac Office.
