§ Mr. MichaelThe Government are considering the regulation of wheel-clamping in the context of the introduction of statutory measures to regulate the private security industry as a whole. We have recently conducted a consultation exercise seeking the views of the industry, 575W the police and others on the type and scope of regulation which might be considered for the private security industry. A number of parties who have an interest in wheel-clamping, including the Automobile Association and the Royal Automobile Club, responded to this exercise. We intend to develop practical proposals which will protect the rights and safety of the public without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
