§ The Minister of State, Department for Education and Employment (Baroness Blackstone)History, PE, art, music, geography and design and technology remain foundation subjects which all schools continue to be required to teach. From September 1998 primary schools will have more flexibility in how to teach these subjects as part of a broad and balanced curriculum. Development of a child's creativity and imagination is an essential part of a balanced education.
