HC Deb 20 January 1998 vol 304 c481W
21. Ms Roseanna Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on progress with the welfare-to-work package in Scotland. [21733]

Mr. Wilson

The New Deal for 18–24 year-olds was launched in the Tayside Pathfinder area on 5 January and arrangements for implementing the programme in the rest of Scotland from the beginning of April are already well advanced. The New Deal for the 25 years and over age group is due to commence in June.

The New Deal for Lone Parents is already available to those claiming Income Support in the Clyde Valley and will be expanded nationwide from October of this year.
