§ Mr. MichaelIt is for individual chief officers of police to assess the risks for their administrative and operational functions of the Year 2000 problem. They are currently assessing the scale of the problem and taking action where appropriate, with the help of the Police Information Technology Organisation. Police forces are also pursuing Year 2000 compliance with the other bodies responsible for systems whose failure might have policing implications. If, during their audit of information technology systems, a force establishes that there is a problem which cannot be, or is unlikely to be, resolved before the millennium it will be expected to establish contingency plans to ensure the continued delivery of policing services.
