§ Mr. RookerThe White Paper 'The Food Standards Agency: A Force for Change' proposes that the Food Standards Agency will take responsibility for policy and legislation on the compositional standards of foodstuffs and the labelling of food at the retail and catering level, and where appropriate propose legislation on nutritional aspects of food (including labelling and claims), dietary supplements sold as food, fortified foods and functional foods. The general enforcement of legislation in these areas will continue to be carried out by local authorities.
